Description
Frog Green is a tone that reads neither cold nor warm. That makes it straightforward on many fabrics. One skein of 8 m. Its 6 strands lie loosely together and pull out one at a time. The skein is sold singly.
For monograms on linen cotton is the right pick: it reads matt and lies flat on the cloth. Matt cotton takes light differently from polyester — embroidery reads calmer and less technical for it. If you follow a chart, buying its tones together is the safer move.

Sewing tips
- Den Strang nicht auseinanderziehen, sondern das Fadenende vorsichtig herausziehen.
- Zum Teilen die gewünschte Anzahl Fäden einzeln herausziehen und wieder zusammenlegen.
- Fadenlänge etwa 40 bis 50 Zentimeter — längere Fäden verdrehen sich und fransen.
- Eine Sticknadel mit stumpfer Spitze nimmt bei Zählstoffen die Löcher statt der Fäden.
- Vor dem Waschen des fertigen Stücks eine Farbprobe machen, besonders bei kräftigen Rottönen.

Frequently asked questions
May I wash the embroidery?
Yes, this cotton is colourfast. With strong reds and blues a test on a scrap still pays off before the finished piece goes into a machine for the first time.
Can I machine embroider with it?
No. Stranded cotton is too thick and too soft for an embroidery machine, and its strands would separate in the needle eye. Machines take fine polyester thread; stranded cotton stays reserved for hand work.
Should I knot the thread?
Better not. Knots press through to the front and work loose over time. The usual method weaves the start under your first stitches and finishes the end the same way.
Does this thread suit children?
Yes, for learning to stitch cotton is the easiest pick: it does not slip, it is easy to hold and it forgives uneven stitches more readily than a smooth machine thread.
