Description
Ecru belongs among the tones you always keep in the box. It suits white, natural shades and anywhere a seam should stay light. 8 m per skein, split across 6 strands. Two strands stitch fine work, all 6 cover solidly. The skein is sold singly.
Stitch with all strands and you get a solid, almost raised surface; with two the line stays fine. Anchor stranded cotton is colourfast. With strong reds a colour test before the finished piece is washed still pays off.

Sewing tips
- Den Strang nicht auseinanderziehen, sondern das Fadenende vorsichtig herausziehen.
- Zum Teilen die gewünschte Anzahl Fäden einzeln herausziehen und wieder zusammenlegen.
- Fadenlänge etwa 40 bis 50 Zentimeter — längere Fäden verdrehen sich und fransen.
- Eine Sticknadel mit stumpfer Spitze nimmt bei Zählstoffen die Löcher statt der Fäden.
- Vor dem Waschen des fertigen Stücks eine Farbprobe machen, besonders bei kräftigen Rottönen.

Frequently asked questions
Which needle do I need?
For counted fabric a blunt embroidery needle: it finds the existing holes instead of splitting the weave. For smooth wovens take a sharp embroidery needle with a large eye.
How do I iron an embroidered piece?
Lay it face down on a soft cloth and iron from the reverse at moderate heat. The embroidery then keeps its relief rather than being flattened, which matters most with satin stitch.
Do I need an embroidery hoop?
For larger designs yes. A hoop keeps fabric evenly tensioned so stitches come out the same size. For a few centimetres of stitching the effort does not pay.
Does this thread suit children?
Yes, for learning to stitch cotton is the easiest pick: it does not slip, it is easy to hold and it forgives uneven stitches more readily than a smooth machine thread.
