This thread shows Silver Grey. On jeans, sweat and anything marled it is often the least conspicuous move. 8 m of cotton per skein, 6 strands side by side: you decide while stitching how many go into your needle. The skein is sold singly.
Stranded cotton is meant for hand work: cross stitch, satin stitch, stem stitch — everything made without a machine. Anchor stranded cotton is colourfast. With strong reds a colour test before the finished piece is washed still pays off. Before washing the finished piece a colour test on a scrap pays off.

Sewing tips
- Den Strang nicht auseinanderziehen, sondern das Fadenende vorsichtig herausziehen.
- Zum Teilen die gewünschte Anzahl Fäden einzeln herausziehen und wieder zusammenlegen.
- Fadenlänge etwa 40 bis 50 Zentimeter — längere Fäden verdrehen sich und fransen.
- Eine Sticknadel mit stumpfer Spitze nimmt bei Zählstoffen die Löcher statt der Fäden.
- Vor dem Waschen des fertigen Stücks eine Farbprobe machen, besonders bei kräftigen Rottönen.

Frequently asked questions
How many strands do I stitch with?
That depends on your fabric. On coarse counted cloth people take three, on fine two, for solid areas all of them. A test stitch at the edge answers faster than any rule.
How do I take thread out of the skein?
Do not pull the skein apart; draw the end out gently. A skein is wound so the thread runs free from one side and tangles from the other.
How do I iron an embroidered piece?
Lay it face down on a soft cloth and iron from the reverse at moderate heat. The embroidery then keeps its relief rather than being flattened, which matters most with satin stitch.
Can I stitch any cross stitch chart with it?
Yes, as long as the chart gives Anchor numbers or a conversion. The tones have been stable for a long time, so older charts still match the current range.
