Description
Leaf Green sits in the green field and reads strongest beside red — that is the complementary contrast. 8 m per skein, split across 6 strands. Two strands stitch fine work, all 6 cover solidly. A blunt embroidery needle finds the holes rather than the threads on counted fabric.
On counted fabrics like Aida you usually work with two or three strands; the fabric count decides, not taste. The cotton is softly twisted and runs calmly through fabric without untwisting as you stitch. Embroidery lies flatter when the thread is not pulled too tight.

Sewing tips
- Den Strang nicht auseinanderziehen, sondern das Fadenende vorsichtig herausziehen.
- Zum Teilen die gewünschte Anzahl Fäden einzeln herausziehen und wieder zusammenlegen.
- Fadenlänge etwa 40 bis 50 Zentimeter — längere Fäden verdrehen sich und fransen.
- Eine Sticknadel mit stumpfer Spitze nimmt bei Zählstoffen die Löcher statt der Fäden.
- Vor dem Waschen des fertigen Stücks eine Farbprobe machen, besonders bei kräftigen Rottönen.

Frequently asked questions
Can I machine embroider with it?
No. Stranded cotton is too thick and too soft for an embroidery machine, and its strands would separate in the needle eye. Machines take fine polyester thread; stranded cotton stays reserved for hand work.
Should I knot the thread?
Better not. Knots press through to the front and work loose over time. The usual method weaves the start under your first stitches and finishes the end the same way.
How far does one skein go?
For a small to medium design usually well. If you plan a large area in one tone, two skeins are safer, since later batches can differ minimally.
How do I keep the skeins?
With their band, dry and out of the light. Without the band the colour number cannot be identified later, and that is exactly what you need when restocking a chart you started.
