Mango is the friendly version of a strong tone: visible, yet not as hard as a pure red. One skein of 8 m. Its 6 strands lie loosely together and pull out one at a time. A blunt embroidery needle finds the holes rather than the threads on counted fabric.
Beyond embroidery, stranded cotton serves for tassels and charms because it drapes softly. The cotton is softly twisted and runs calmly through fabric without untwisting as you stitch. Embroidery lies flatter when the thread is not pulled too tight.

How do I divide the thread?
Pull the number of strands you want out of the skein one at a time, then lay them side by side again. Pull several at once and you get knots instead of strands — the commonest beginner's mistake.
Can I machine embroider with it?
No. Stranded cotton is too thick and too soft for an embroidery machine, and its strands would separate in the needle eye. Machines take fine polyester thread; stranded cotton stays reserved for hand work.
How do I keep the skeins?
With their band, dry and out of the light. Without the band the colour number cannot be identified later, and that is exactly what you need when restocking a chart you started.
Is the skein sold singly?
Yes, every skein on its own. That lets you buy exactly the tones a chart asks for instead of an assortment full of colours you never need.
