With multicoloured designs, fine gradations matter. The larger the colour card, the more precisely a transition can be matched – which shows above all in photo stitching and designs with shading.

Like any polyester thread, Poly Deco is strong and tolerates machine washing. The colours stay stable through many cycles, which suits it to clothing and frequently used textiles.

Large spools pay off for colours you need often – white, black and skin tones for portrait designs, for instance. For rarely used colours, smaller units are enough.

Why do I need a wide colour range?

For designs with gradients and shading. The finer the gradations, the softer the transitions look – for simple outline designs, a few colours are enough.

Can I mix threads from different manufacturers?

Yes, as long as the weight matches. Make sure sheen and colour depth suit each other; a matt and a highly lustrous thread side by side stand out in the design.

Which spool size is worthwhile?

Large spools for colours that appear in almost every design. For special shades small units are enough, as thread attracts dust over time and loses strength.
