The tone Anthracite is among the least conspicuous in the palette. That is exactly why it lives in every sewing box. With 820 m on the spool and weight 40 this thread counts among the generous ones. Colour code 1171 stays the identity of this tone. This tone is lightfast, which counts above all on pieces that sit permanently by a window.
For embroidering towels, children's clothes and linen: this thread is boil-proof, so a design survives hot washing too. This Sulky thread is built to last. Polyester takes colour permanently, and its tear resistance is enough for densely stitched designs.
Available in more colours in the Sulky Poly Deco series.
Yes. A fine bobbin thread belongs in the case, not this embroidery thread. Otherwise the reverse builds up bulk and your design ripples. Bobbin thread comes in black and white.
While embroidering the top tension may sit slightly looser than for sewing. It is right when the reverse shows roughly one third top thread and two thirds bobbin thread.
For decorative seams yes, for load-bearing seams rather not. Embroidery thread is built for sheen and suppleness, not for the tensile strength a structural seam needs over years.
In principle yes, though it is unusual. For hand work people take divisible cotton stranded thread. Machine thread is finer and more slippery, but it shines considerably more.
