For area-filling designs the sheen pays off: large fill stitches read more lively with it than with matt thread. Poly Deco belongs to the glossy embroidery threads. That sheen comes from the polyester itself rather than a coating, so it is not lost in the wash.

What do I do when the thread breaks?
Usually your machine runs too fast or the tension is too tight. Slow down, loosen the tension and check whether the thread catches anywhere. A net over the spool keeps the feed even.
