This thread shows Brass. On dark fabrics it gives a clearly visible line, on light ones a soft tone-on-tone effect. 500 m, weight 100, colour number 1130: printed on the spool so the colour stays reorderable. If you need this tone on several pieces, buying two spools at once is the safer move.
It also serves for buttonholes and decorative stitches, being even in thickness and easy for a machine to guide. Troja is no embroidery thread: it does not shine, but it takes strain. For structural seams that is the right direction.
What Amann Troja Nähgarn Messing is suitable for
- home textiles such as curtains and covers
- hems on trousers and skirts
- patchwork and quilting
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Which thread belongs on the bobbin?
This same thread in this same colour. Different tones above and below show along the seam as soon as your fabric moves. Only embroidery follows another rule.
How should I store the spools?
Upright, dry and out of the light. Direct sun bleaches the outer layers over time, and then the tone no longer matches the number on the spool.
What is this thread made of?
It is a synthetic sewing thread, evenly twisted and therefore resilient. Unlike pure cotton it does not lose strength along a seam when washed often.
Can I mix different threads in one piece?
Better not within one seam. Different threads stretch differently, and your seam then pulls unevenly. Between two separate seams on the same piece it is no problem.
