Description
With Maize you set a warm accent. Beside blue and grey that looks particularly lively. At 500 m per spool this thread goes a long way. Weight 100 suits the usual universal needles, and the colour number is 1172. This thread is bred not for sheen but for a seam that holds.
Top and bobbin thread belong in your machine in the same colour, otherwise the bobbin flashes through along the seam. Amann Troja is evenly twisted and therefore resilient. Your seam stays where you set it, even after many washes.
What Amann Troja Sewing Thread 500 m Maize is suitable for
- clothing from wovens and knits
- topstitching meant to lie flat
- buttonholes on a domestic machine
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How far does one spool go?
For a single garment it is usually enough several times over. If you plan a large project in one colour, buy two spools rather than restock mid-seam.
Can I use this thread on an overlocker?
Better not. Overlock thread is softer and finer so the edge adds no bulk, and it comes on larger cones. Sewing thread runs restlessly in an overlocker and builds bulk.
How should I store the spools?
Upright, dry and out of the light. Direct sun bleaches the outer layers over time, and then the tone no longer matches the number on the spool.
Does it suit topstitching?
Yes, as long as your seam should stay flat. For deliberately thick decorative seams on jeans there is heavier thread; for clean, discreet topstitching this one is right.
