Dark grey is the restrained alternative to black. On mid-tone fabrics it draws a line without reading as hard. 20 cm long — pick your length by the pattern piece rather than the paper pattern, since seam allowances and hem change the measurement.
This version carries a fine 3 mm coil. On light fabrics it is the calmer choice against metal. If the slider sticks later, fabric or a thread is usually caught between the teeth — ease it out rather than forcing it. A little candle wax on the teeth gets it running smoothly again.
What Nicht teilbare Reißverschlüsse Dunkelgrau is suitable for
- Trousers and skirts, because only an opening should part there.
- Seat cushion covers, because the cover comes off for washing.
- Garment bags, because the opening matches the length exactly.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How long should a cushion opening be?
At least half the cushion width, ideally a little more. Otherwise the insert only goes in with a struggle and the corners stay unfilled.
How do I get the seam close to the teeth?
With a zip foot, a slow pace and a tacked edge. Press the allowance beforehand and it lies flat while you sew, so the seam keeps an even distance.
How does it look tidy inside?
A facing or lining covers the tape. Without either, finish your seam allowances with overlock or zigzag beforehand, or they fray beside the tape.
How far should the topstitching sit?
About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
