A clear white with no cream cast. On white or pale fabrics it stays discreet; on dark ones it turns into a design element. Tooth length comes to 14 cm. Lay it against your piece before cutting and you will see at once whether the opening sits right.
Brass teeth at 5.6 mm — strong, warm in tone and clearly visible. On denim and canvas this is the classic choice. Close the fastener before every wash, so the tape will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
What Nicht teilbare Reißverschlüsse Weiß is suitable for
Cushion covers, because the opening can be measured exactly.
Trousers and skirts, because only an opening should part there.
Rucksacks, because a fixed stop takes strain.
Sewing tips
Available in more colours in the Nicht teilbare Reißverschlüsse series.
Frequently asked questions
What does closed-end mean?
This fastener is closed at the bottom: the slider runs onto a fixed stop and both halves stay joined. Your piece opens only along the teeth, never completely.
How do I get the seam close to the teeth?
With a zip foot, a slow pace and a tacked edge. Press the allowance beforehand and it lies flat while you sew, so the seam keeps an even distance.
Which needle should I use?
A universal needle in a suitable size. Never sew across the teeth themselves — on metal a needle breaks, on plastic it bends. Push the slider aside first.
What do I do with the tape ends?
They run into the seam allowance and are caught there. Fold them slightly outwards at an angle, so they add no bulk at the corner and the slider reaches the top.
