Black works on nearly any fabric without long comparison. This fastener disappears on dark cloth and draws a deliberate line on pale cloth. At 50 cm of tooth length it fits wherever you need exactly that opening — measured on your finished pattern piece, not on paper.
These metal teeth carry a rainbow coating and shift tone with the light. Here the fastener is deliberately the focal point. Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.
What Teilbare Reißverschlüsse Schwarz is suitable for
- Waistcoats, because it lies smoothly into the front edge.
- Covers meant to come off entirely, because both halves separate.
- Between-season jackets, because they open quickly.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Which length does a jacket need?
Measure the front edge on your finished pattern piece, hem to neckline, and deduct seam allowances. Err short: too long and it stands proud at the top, too short and your hem gapes.
What about crossing seams?
Open the fastener and push the slider out of the way before your needle arrives. Hit the slider or metal teeth and it breaks.
Metal or plastic — which is better?
Plastic is lighter, more flexible and quieter; metal reads stronger and takes more strain. Sweat jackets do fine with plastic; for coats and workwear, metal serves better.
Which needle do I need?
A universal needle in a suitable size; across several layers a denim needle. Never sew over the teeth themselves — a needle breaks or bends there.
